As NYU alumni raked in the awards at the Golden Globes, it has come to light that NYU has produced many famous and notable alumni. Here are 30 famous people who went to NYU.

1. Stefani Germonatta a.k.a. Lady Gaga (Tisch non-graduate)

The popular singer Lady Gaga not only dabbles in the music scene, but also just won a Golden Globe for her role as the Countess in "American Horror Story: Hotel."  While at NYU, Gaga once participated in the university's annual talent show and came in 2nd place.

2. Aziz Ansari (Stern ‘04)

Though he studied marketing at NYU's Stern School of Business, Aziz Ansari has gone on to be a prominent comedian and actor.  He can be seen as Tom Haverford on the show "Parks and Recreation" or in his own series on Netflix called "Master of None."  Ansari also has a book out called "Modern Romance: An Investigation."

3. Anne Hathaway (Gallatin, Tisch non-graduate)

First debuting in "The Princess Diaries," Anne Hathaway is now an award winning actress, and has an Academy Award (out of many other awards) for her role in the movie "Les Miserables."

Fun fact: Jack Dorsey came up with the idea of creating Twitter while at NYU before he dropped out.

6. Judy Blume (Steinhardt ‘61)

Judy Blume was a prominent writer for children and young adults.  One of her most notable pieces of writing is "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret."

7. Andy Samberg (Tisch ‘00)

8. Alec Baldwin (Tisch ‘93)

It's not really a secret that Alec Baldwin went to NYU.  As an actor, Alec Baldwin has appeared in many movies and TV shows, including the comedy series "30 Rock."

10. JD Salinger (completed coursework at NYU)

We know him as the author of "The Catcher in the Rye," but NYU knows him as a former student who completed some coursework at the university.

11. Adam Sandler (Tisch ‘91)

Adam Sandler is a Tisch graduate who has gone on to star in many movies such as "Happy Gilmore" and his most recent movie "Pixels."  He also sings that song about Hanukkah (you know what song I'm talking about). He was also an RA at NYU!

13. Ashley Olsen (Gallatin non-graduate)

It all started with "Full House."  Ashley Olsen attended NYU at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study.  However, she did not earn a degree as her and her sister Mary Kate both decided to leave the university in the middle of their coursework.

14. Mary Kate Olsen (Gallatin non-graduate)

Also staring in "Full House" as a baby and toddler, Mary Kate followed the same routine as her sister in studying at Gallatin and leaving in the middle of her coursework.

15. Martin Scorsese (Tisch ‘64, GSAS ‘66)

16. Bill DeBlasio (CAS ‘84)

The current mayor of New York City is also an NYU alumnus.

17. Suzanne Collins (Tisch ‘89)

Suzanne Collins, author of "The Hunger Games" and several other novels, graduated from Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in dramatic writing.

18. Philip Seymour Hoffman (Tisch ‘89)

Ironically, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman also attended Tisch and graduated the same year as Suzanne Collins.  Hoffman has gone on to star in many movies, including all of the Hunger Games movies.

19. Tom Ford (Tisch non-graduate)

You may know him as a high-fashion designer, or you may know him as a Jay Z song title, but here at NYU, many people know him as a student who once attended Tisch School of the Arts.

20. Dylan Sprouse (Gallatin '15)

Wanting to pursue a career in video game design, Dylan Sprouse attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study.  As a child star on "Friends" and later in "Suite Life of Zack and Cody," Dylan Sprouse felt it was time to pursue something other than acting, which, of course, brought him straight to NYU. Also in "Friends" and "Suite Life of Zack and Cody," Cole Sprouse is also an alumnus of NYU.

22. Dakota Fanning (current student)

Though she is not part of the alumni community yet, Dakota Fanning is currently in her senior year at NYU.

23. Charles Waldo Haskins (Tandon 1867)

Fun fact: Charles Waldo Haskins founded the Stern School of Business.

24. Matthew Gray Gubler (Tisch '02)

26. Idina Menzel (Tisch non-graduate)

27. Whoopi Goldberg (GSAS)

The writer and award-winning actress found her roots at NYU, where she earned a PhD in literature at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.  It is unknown what year Whoopi Goldberg graduated.

28. Angelina Jolie (Tisch '93)

Angelina Jolie, who has won an Academy Award and several Golden Globes, is seen in many movies such as "Maleficent," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," and one of her most recent, "By the Sea."

29. Jonas Salk (School of Medicine '38)

The creator of the vaccine to cure polio did in fact study at and graduate from the NYU School of Medicine.  Because of Salk's great innovation, polio is no longer a known disease that plagues the world.

30. Chelsea Clinton (Wagner non-graduate)
